Juniper Berries

Food Description:

These blue-black berries from the common juniper tree have a piney, fresh aroma and flavour. They are best known as an ingredient in gin, and are used in many European recipes.

General Information:

Category: Spice
To Buy: Buy in airtight packaging from a reputable food retailer.
To Store: Store, airtight, away from heat and light. Juniper berries should last for at least 2 years from date of packing.
Tips and Tricks: Add a few juniper berries to stews and casseroles, particularly those with game. Poultry stuffings are given a delicious lift when about 3 or 4 berries are slightly crushed and added to the mix with herbs.
